Ahhh Hawaii is one of the very best tourist vacation spots within the United States. For good reason too! This group of islands provides beauty beyond compare and does not require a passport for U.S. visitors. It’s the 50th of the fifty states, but the culture here is so different it feels like you’re in a whole different country.
There are several islands here, however the eight most important ones are listed as the following: Hawai’i, often called The Big Island, Maui, The Valley Isle, Kaho’olawe, The Target Isle, Lana’i, The Pineapple Isle, Moloka’i, The Friendly Isle, O’ahu, The Gathering Place, Kaua’i, The Garden Isle and of course Ni’ihau, The Forbidden Isle.
The traditional Hawaiian language has a Polynesian source, nevertheless English is prominently spoken here as well. Each are well-established languages. Use of the Polynesian form has progressively decreased over the many years however the school system is starting to foster the use to retain the Hawaiian heritage. The weather found in the Hawaiian islands is excellent all year round. It has the typical climate patterns for a warm location. The trade winds, though, render the humidity lower than in other tropical areas around the world. The islands mainly only have two seasons, the dry season occurring from May and lasts until October and also the rainy season which takes place later in November and lasts throughout March.
Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, by air and sea, sinking or destroying several Navy warships and taking some 2400 lives. You can visit and explore the actual location and even see several old ships still there to this day.
Significant towns in the islands, which are recommended to see, can include Honolulu (which is the capital), Kamuela, Haleiwa, Lihue, Wailea, Captain Cook, Waimanalo and Kailua. Each affords its distinctive contribution towards a superb holiday adventure.
The Hawaiian Islands offer several distinct culture groups which, through the years, have made Hawaii home. To name a few, Polynesian, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, German, English, Irish, Portuguese, Italian, African, French, Mexican, Scottish and Puerto Rican. Each have left their own mark.
